About Earl Perkins, Research VP, Gartner
Earl Perkins is a research vice president in the Security and Privacy team at Gartner. His focus areas include: 1) identity and access management (i.e., user provisioning, role life cycle management, role-based access and authorization management) and its market, services and processes; 2) enterprise application (e.g., SAP and Oracle) security and identity frameworks; 3) Web services, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and software as a service (SaaS) security and identity issues; and 4) secure development life cycles. Mr. Perkins has more than 28 years of information technology and security experience, including industry experience in education, energy and utility businesses in planning, architecting, designing, engineering, managing and operating local-area, wide-area and Internet-based networks, as well as developing and delivering applications for them. He has been recognized for achievements in designing, deploying and securing systems, applications, voice and data networks for three corporations (two U.S.-based and one international), managing IT restructurings in the utility and energy industries. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Perkins held director positions at Microsoft in market research and vice president/senior director positions in IT research firm Meta Group, where he was part of Security & Risk Strategies and Global Network Strategies practices, respectively. He also held IT management and technical roles for Entergy, an electric utility based in New Orleans, Louisiana, and senior manager positions at London Energy in London, England.

About Craig Smelser, VP, Product Development, Storage & Security Software Development
Craig Smelser has spent almost 30 years developing software operating systems, firmware and middleware. He has been with IBM since 1995, where he has held a variety of product management and development executive roles. Among some of them: Craig ran product management for Lotus, Rational and IBM Storage. In his current role as a Development Vice President in Tivoli, Craig is responsible for the definition, design and development of IBM's storage and security software portfolio. Craig holds a BS in Computer Science, BA in Math and MS in Software Engineering from Boston University and has held previous positions at NCR, Wang and DEC.
