About John Pescatore, VP Distinguished Analyst, Gartner
John Pescatore is a vice president and research fellow in Gartner Research. Mr. Pescatore has 32 years of experience in computer, network and information security. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Pescatore was senior consultant for Entrust Technologies and Trusted Information Systems, where he started and managed security consulting groups. His previous experience includes 11 years with GTE, as well as employment with NSA and the U.S. Secret Service.

About Tas Giakouminakis, Co-Founder and CTO, Rapid7
Tas Giakouminakis is a Rapid7 co-founder and the chief architect of NeXpose and has been part of the Matthews and Devine team since 1990. Giakouminakis helped form Percussion Software in 1994 where he led the server development of Notrix, Percussion's first product. In addition, he led the server development team for Rhythmyx, Percussion's Enterprise Content Management system. Tas left Percussion to launch Rapid7 in 1998. Prior to his recent experiences, he worked in the financial services sector, developing software in the security and risk areas for CitiCorp.

Randy Marchany, Security Lab Director, Virginia Tech
Randy Marchany has been involved in the computer industry since 1972. He is currently the director of the VA Tech IT Security Lab, a component of the university's IT Security Office. He is a co-author of the FBI/SANS Institute's "Top 10/20 Internet Security Vulnerabilities" document that has become a standard for most computer security and auditing software. He is the co-author of the "Responding to Distributed Denial of Service Attacks" document that was prepared at the request of the White House in response to the DDOS attacks of 2000. He was a member of the White House Partnership for Critical Infrastructure Security working group that developed a Consensus Roadmap for responding to the recent series of DDOS Internet Attacks. He was a recipient of the SANS Institute's Security Technology Leadership Award for 2000. He was a recipient of the VA Governor's Technology Silver Award in 2003. He was part of the team that won the EDUCAUSE Excellence in Information Technology Solutions in 2005. He is a co-holder of a patent for battery based intrusion detection system that was the product of research conducted in the VA Tech IT Security Lab.
